The fire broke out at the godown of Al Wahda furniture godown and engulfed worker's quarters in minutes. They were sleeping in their room when the fire broke out.

The presence of flammable materials like chemicals, foam and wood along with the wind caused the fire to spread quickly. Of the 11 persons in the room, nine managed to escape through the AC duct.
