Black money crackdown forgotten? Karnataka BJP flocks to 'black' wedding

Most Karnataka citizens have been expressing their shock at the obscene sums being spent by a former minister for his daughter's wedding at a time when every single honest citizen of the country is facing great difficulty accessing their own, legitimate, hard earned money.
 

A corrupt, tainted former minister and ex-BJP party member has been showering money on things like re-creating a palace in Bengaluru and hiring 3000 guards. Meanwhile honest daily wage earners starve and infants die because citizens guilty of nothing have been denied their own money.

 

Gali Janardhana Reddy spent 40 months in jail for corruption. The CBI, technically, has seized his assets. He is legally merely out on bail. He is, in many ways, a stereotypical example of a corrupt man growing fabulously rich by defrauding the government and pocketing huge sums through illegal exploitation of the nation's resources.

 

At the same time, PM Modi has been demanding more and more patience from the nation, claiming that it was all for the greater good.

 

But such ideals seem to have gone completely over the head of the Karnataka BJP, who flocked to Reddy's daughter's wedding.

 

Heavy hitting BJP leaders like Yeddyurappa (State president of BJP), Jagadeesh Shettar (Opposition leader),  Shobha Karandlaje (MP), GM Siddeshwara (Davangere MP and Former MoS for heavy industries), CT Ravi (MLA), Aravinda Limbavali (Mahadevapura MLA) and others have attended the marriage.

Dotty, the wife of BJP Union Minister for Statistics and Programme Implementation Sadananda Gowda, is going to attend the marriage.

 

Here are some of their excuses:

 

“This is a private affair. Attending and not attending is at the discretion of individuals. Hence I don’t want to comment on anything” – CT Ravi

“The marriage function of Janardhana Reddy’s daughter is purely a private matter. He has invited me and I'm attending. Earlier Janardhana Reddy had attended to my son's marriage also” - Jagadeesh Shettar, opposition leader,

 

The rest of the political class was wary though. JDS leaders are not expected to attend the marriage - especially not the father-son duo of HD Deve Gowda and Kumarswamy. However rebel leaders like Cheluvaraya Swamy, HC Balakrishna, Zameer Ahmed attended.

 

From the Congress, the Chief Minister seems to have given it a skip. But Energy Minister DK Shivakumar attended and Ambareesh, along with his wife Sumalatha, also attended.
