A woman in a moving bus got her molester arrested after she pinged the Bengaluru city police on the app. The 29-year-old techie, who had been fondled by him a month earlier, saw him board the same bus as her on Wednesday.

The molester, identified as 47-year-old Madhusudhan Rao, worked at the same IT firm. He allegedly made a move on April 10 and groped her again while seated behind on a bus heading to Silk Board. The woman used the Bengaluru City Police’s app, Know Your Police Station and alerted the nearest jurisdictional station.

In a few minutes, the Bellandur police located a pink hoysala in the vicinity which intercepted the bus. The molester was arrested and a case under Section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) was filed against him.

Earlier, Rao committed a sexual offense against her while travelling in a BMTC bus. She alerted the other passengers but he got away before they could stop him. However, she did manage to click a few pictures of him.

Speaking about the incident, a police official said, “Head Constables B Mahesh, Arif Pasha and woman police constable Pavithra Banagar intercepted the bus in 15 minutes on Inner Ring Road and nabbed the accused.” reported Deccan Chronicle.

The Bengaluru City Police launched the app in an effort to help people find a police station closest to them. The app, which is available on Android phones, uses Google maps and helps people locate the nearest jurisdictional station. Apart from this, the city's police force launched an app exclusively for women and called it Suraksha.

Women in Bengaluru can also use Asianet Newsable's Pink Samaritan app, which alerts volunteers in the vicinity, helps locate the nearest pharmacy and police station. The app includes a list of self-defence classes in the city and inspiring stories by women across the world.
