Bengaluru: A man jumped off the platform in the National College Metro station, Bengaluru. The man who jumped has been identified as Rajan. 18-year-old Rajan is a resident near Basavanagudi. He was severely injured.

Rajan was seen loitering in the Metro station from the morning and said that he was waiting for someone when he was questioned.

Despite security personnel deployed at the station, Rajan managed to jump on to the tracks as the train approached the platform. The train was moving towards Yelachenahalli.  People scattered and ran away at the sight of the incident.

Train services between Majestic and Yelachenahalli were stalled temporarily

Rajan was admitted to Victoria hospital and later transferred to NIMHANS where he is undergoing treatment.

Karnataka chief minister HD Kumaraswamy met Rajan in the hospital and asked Rajan why he jumped. Rajan initially said that it was an accident. When Kumaraswamy said that he saw the video, Rajan said that he does not remember what happened.

Sources says that Rajan admitted to being depressed over constant arguments with his parents over his mobile phone usage, and that he was also unhappy about failing his class X exam a couple of years ago.
