KSRTC to honour 283 drivers with silver medal for accident-free driving

Drivers of Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) will be honoured with silver medals for accident-free driving. The felicitation is to motivate other drivers to ensure passenger safety.

Bengaluru: To boost their confidence and carry forward their commitment towards passenger safety, Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) will honour 283 drivers. The transport minister will present the medals on January 26.

According to KSRTC, 283 silver medals worth Rs 8,49,0000 will be presented to drivers for safe driving. According to the reports, KSRTC covers 28.65 lakh km with 8750 buses to serve 29 lakh passengers every day.

"Passenger safety is our priority. These accident-free drivers made this

possible with their untiring dedication and commitment and provided safe travel experience to our passengers. These accident-free drivers of all the divisions will motivate others to do their best," said Shivayogi C Kalasad, IAS, managing director, KSRTC.

Honouring drivers who have rendered five years of accident-free and default-free service, with silver medals is in practice since 1982.

The drivers will be awarded a 32-gram silver medal with ‘Gandabherunda

logo’ (Karnataka's emblem). They will also be given a cash reward of Rs 2,000.

Further, a monthly allowance of Rs 50 will also be given to motivate them to continue their accident-free duty.
