Chitradurga: Five  persons including a Kannada television serial actress died on Wednesday in a road accident between a lorry and an SUV near Chitradurga.

Shobha who was known for her character of Mangala in one of the popular Kannada serials Magalu Janaki was killed in the accident on National Highway 4 at Kunchiganahalu in Chitradurga.

Shobha was a resident of KR Puram in Bengaluru. She was out on a trip with her family members when the accident happened. The family was touring Badami.

Shobha's family members Sukanya, Shyamalamma and driver Ashok were killed. Four-year-old Parvitha and one-and-a-half year-old child are critical and have been admitted to the Chitradurga district hospital.

According to reports, a tyre of the Innova car in which the actress and her family were travelling in, burst, resulting in it hitting a lorry. The vehicle has been completely damaged.

The Chitradurga Police have booked a case and superintendent of police (SP) Dr Arun inspected the spot.

Director of the serial Magalu Janaki, TN Seetharam took to Facebook to express shock over the untimely demise of the actress and mourned the loss.

The entire team of Magalu Janaki too expressed shocked over the incident.
