Congress MLA denied BDA chairman post, three BBMP corporators threaten to resign

BBMP corporators and Gram panchayat members threatened to resign from their post after their patron and tree-time MLA ST Somashekar was denied Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) chairmanship. 20 days ago, the Congress allegedly released a list in which ST Somashekhar's name was mentioned as a prospective head of the BDA. Sources say the MLA is upset over this development and suspects that the JD(S) is behind the denial of the post.

Congress MLA denied BDA chairman post, three BBMP corporators threaten to resign

Bengaluru: Three Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike corporators and gram panchayat members in Yeshwanthpur assembly limits threatened to resign from their posts after their leader ST Somashekar was denied the post of Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) Chairman.

Aarya Srinivas from Hemmigepura ward, Rajanna from Herohalli and Vasudeva from Doddabidarakallu are the corporators who have threatened to resign.

Somashekar, a Vokkaliga and three-time MLA was also a minister hopeful but could not be included in the cabinet due to the coalition compulsion as the Congress had to give over 11 ministerial posts to the JD(S). However, to keep disgruntled MLAs happy, the Congress released a list to accommodate MLAs for post of chairman to various boards and corporations.

"Our boss ST Somashekar was named BDA Chairman in the list sent by the Congress. For the last 20 days we have been waiting for the official announcement, as the chief minister needed to sign, but now his name is missing. This is an injustice to an honest Congress worker and the Vokkaliga community in and around Yeshwanthpur," said Aarya Srinivas, BBMP Corporator, Hemmigepura ward.

The corporator also hinted that there could be non-cooperation from the Congress workers from these assembly segments during the MP election.
