Acting on a tip-off, the Central Crime Branch raided a spa that pushed Northeast girls into prostitution on the pretext of offering them a job. Three girls were rescued in the operation.
Bengaluru: The Bengaluru Police has busted a prostitution racket and rescued three Northeast girls from a spa. The Central Crime Branch (CCB) arrested the woman who pushed the girls into prostitution on the pretext of giving them jobs in her spa.
The accused Katty Rudy, 29, from Nagaland, was running a sex racket at her spa in Jayanagar for the last six months. The police raided the premises on Thursday night and arrested her. They also seized the woman’s mobile phone, Rs 3,000 in cash, few condom packets and rescued the girls.
According to S Ayesha, police inspector, women and narcotics wing, CCB, Bengaluru, information was received a few days back about some illegal activity at the massage parlour.
"The rescued girls, who are now housed at the state remand home for women, have told that Rudy hired them to do facial massage and haircuts and later she pushed them into sex racket," Ayesha said.
Following the arrest and rescue of women from Northeast states, Dr Rini Ralte, president of the North East Solidarity Forum (NESF), an association that deals with issues related to NE residents in Karnataka, said that the parents back home should think twice before sending their girls when someone offers them jobs.
"The police should verify these parlours periodically in coordination with NE related associations. They should also do a background check on the owners of the spas in the city. This way we will be able to know about the situation of the NE girls," Ralte said
