Tripura Chief Minister summoned by PM Modi for making controversial statements

Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb who has made headlines with his controversial statements has allegedly been summoned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Deb has been summoned to meet BJP chief Amit Shah and Modi on May 2 in Delhi.

The minister who took oath last month has made several remarks that have triggered widespread criticism. He mentioned that internet and satellite communications existed during the Mahabharata era. He also made a statement wherein he said that mechanical engineers should not opt for civil services but instead, civil engineers should.

The party leaders are miffed at the controversies triggered by him as he went on to criticise Diana Hayden’s crowning as Miss World in 1997 and asked the youth of the country to not run after white-collar jobs but instead to explore a career in the dairy industry by rearing cows.

The party has decided to not put up with Deb’s behaviour any longer and hence has summoned him.
