Will Neenu's mother Rehana's alleged mental instability help her escape punishment in Kevin murder case?
The mother of Neenu, one of the accused in the Kevin murder case has already availed anticipatory bail making it difficult for the probing officers to question her
FollowThe officers investigating the Kevin murder case will approach the High Court seeking cancellation of the anticipatory bail provided to the accused in the case. The police cannot question the accused properly if they are not in custody.Â
The mother of Neenu, one of the accused in the Kevin murder case has already availed anticipatory bail making it difficult for the probing officers to question her. The lawyer argued in the court that Neenu's mother had taken treatment for mental illness. But the court observed that this cannot be related to the case and directed the advocate to submit a separate application if treatment is needed to Neenu's mother.
The advocate also requested the court to extend the custody of prime accused in the case, Shanu and others.
The court has granted bail to ASI Biju and driver Ajayakumar who allegedly took money from Shanu Chacko. Legally if the accused are out on bail, then the inquiry team cant question them for a long time, so the officers investigating the case is approaching the court to cancel the bond of police officers.
Allegedly Kevin's financial status played a significant role as he was a Dalit Christian in love with Neenu from an affluent family. kevin and Neenu's relationship was disapproved by the girl's family. She then eloped with Kevin and got legally married to him secretly. However, to ensure her safety she had to live in the hostel. The result of their marriage was that Kevin was abducted and after two days found dead floating on the river. Allegedly parents and brother of the girl are responsible for the death of Kevin.
