The factional feud in Kerala Congress (M) has become apparent with party's working chairman PJ Joseph revealing they are totally against KC(M) joining hands with the Left front in Kottayam.

KC(M) had won the Kottayam district panchayat president post with the support of the CPM on Tuesday, much to the dismay of old ally Congress and a considerable section its own cadre. Party chief KM Mani claimed innocence in the act, saying he was not aware of the development, which was taken by a section of pained local party leaders, but he would not oppose the move.

However, Joseph has now termed the move as unfortunate and said that an alliance with the CPM at any level was not discussed before. Joseph also said it was decided at the Charalkunnu camp that the party would co-operate with the Congress in the LSG polls.

Joseph faction leader Mons Jospeh also endorsed the stand and stated that the Mani group betrayed them.

Meanwhile, KC(M)'s Kottayam district president EM Augusthy resigned from the post, allegedly over the party not honouring the alliance with the Congress in the district panchayat polls. Augusthy was a close aide of Mani and has been functioning as Kottayam district president for the past 25 years.
