An old woman who dragged her ailing husband in the corridors of the Shivamogga's McGann Hospital in the absence of a stretcher has not only held a mirror to the government hospital's apathy in the state but also triggered a blame game among the leaders.

Aamir Saab, a resident of Kurubara Palya had sustained an injury in his leg. He has been coming to the hospital for the last three days. But on Wednesday, he was to undergo a X Ray test, so Famida requested for a stretcher but was allegedly deprived by the staff claiming that it was not there. With no help, helpless, Famida was forced to drag her husband to the X Ray corner. Yet, the hospital authorities did not come to their help, Famida rued. A video of Famida dragging her husband on the hospital corridor went viral after a television channel played it out. Famida told a news channel that the doctors did not bother to lend them a helping hand. "Is this how poor people are treated at the government hospitals," she asked.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah tried to allay the queries when the mediapersons questioned him about this. He bluntly said "ohh... just leave it." BJP state president who is also a member of Parliament from Shivamogga BS Yeddyurappa simply said "no reaction." However, later he said that he has spoken to the senior doctors at his home district in this regard. Even Health minister Ramesh Kumar questioned Yeddyurappa for providing any facilities to the people of his home district. However, he was severely criticised by Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council, KS Eshwarappa.

As the news broke, the senior doctors have now suspended three staff of the hospital - two staff nurses and a Group 'D' employee - for allegedly depriving the patients a stretcher.
