BJP MP Shobha Karandlaje otherwise known for her sharp and constructive criticism of the ruling party is making headlines these days. Her outbursts against the Siddaramaiah-led Congress party - in the last few months - have been branded distasteful by many. Here are five times Shobha Karandlaje courted controversy.

1. Why KPCC working president Dinesh Gundurao has not married a Dalit?

It all started with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's comment on BJP leaders' visit to Dalit houses irked her. Siddaramaiah had that having food at dalits' houses was not enough to show that BJP was pro-dalit but they should marry their daughters. Reacting to this, Shobha asked, 'Has KPCC Working president Dinesh married a dalit?' She also went on to say that "Everybody know whom Dinesh had married." This certainly did not go well with Dinesh Gundurao who retorted he has already married and everybody knows that."Shobha Karandlaje is still unmarried and there is still time for her to do so," Dinesh said. Shobha even earned ire from Dinesh Gundurao's wife Tabassum who strongly objected to Shobha interfering in her personal life to gain political mileage.

2. 'People of Dakshina Kannada are not impotent'

As the tension mounted in Bantwal as leaders from Hindu and Muslim communities were killed, Shobha Karandlaje had made some comments using some unparliamentary words. Recently, while stating that since the Congress government came to power 30 RSS/Hindu leaders have been killed in three years, Shobha said "Do you think people of Dakshina Kannada are so impotent to sit and watch whatever happens in the district?(trans)" Shobha, people feel, should have had some better choice of words for her stature.

3. 'Government destroyed evidence in Anurag Tewari's murder'

On the alleged murder of IAS officer Anurag Tewari in Lucknow, Shobha Karandlaje that the government had destroyed burnt down papers and documents even before the CBI could arrive in the city probing the officer's death. Anurag Tewari was the Commissioner of Food and Civil Supplies Department and was found dead in Lucknow on May. The CBI is still investigating Anurag's death.

4. 'Minister Baig gave supari to bump off RSS worker Rudresh'

Last year, afterh was brutally attacked by bike-borne miscreants, Shobha allegedly levelled a serious attack on Information Minister Roshan Baig. She that "Roshan Baig paid supari to bump off RSS worker Rudresh." She had also stated that she had credible information. Minister Baig said he was ready for a CBI probe and also threatened to file a defamation suit against the BJP MP. The police have arrested four for Rudresh's murder.

5. 'Religious celebrations should be confined to respective religious organisations'

Pejawar mutt seer Vpremises created a sensation. Shobha, who is an MP from Udupi-Chikmagaluru constituency, could have played a better role at improving communal harmony in her own home district. But the MP that religious celebrations should be confined to respective religious organisations. However, her own colleague, Jagadish Shettar welcomed the seer's initiative and found nothing wrong with the celebrations.
