Daily wage worker buried in soil after mud collapse in RR Nagar

The victim has been identified as Madivalappa (26), a resident of Rajarajeshwari Nagar

A 26-year-old daily-wage worker on Wednesday died as a pile of mud collapsed on him during drain-repair work that was being carried out in Rajarajeshwari Nagar. The victim has been identified as Madivalappa (26) from Kalaburagi district, who settled in Bengaluru two years ago. Madivalappa, along with five others were working when the pile of the mud collapsed on them. The five other workers managed to escape from the disaster while Madivalappa got stuck.

Madivalappa's body was extracted from the mud by Karnataka State Fire and Emergency Services personnel after five hours. The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) workers were carrying out excavation work in a storm water drain (SWD) to connect an underground sewage water pipe.
