BJP gets furious over FIR against Yeddyurappa allege misuse of ACB Siddaramaiah denies charge

BJP leaders led by party state president BS Yeddyurappa and Union minister HN Ananth Kumar complained to the Governor against the Siddaramaiah government. The party leaders are protesting against the alleged misuse of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) by the State government. A complaint against Yeddyurappa has been filed with the ACB alleging him of denpotifying Shivarama Karanth Layout.

Even on Sunday, the party leaders led by former deputy chief minister staged a protest at the State Bank of India circle. The protesters demanded that baseless allegations are being made against Opposition leaders and the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah must take moral responsibility and resign. Addressing the protesters, Ashok said the State government is misusing ACB to silence Opposition leaders. Ashok claimed that a government officer has openly declared that he was allegedly pressurised to testify against the BJP strongman and nothing can be more shameful than this. The KAS officer Basavarajendra who lodged a complaint against denotification of Shivarama Karanth Layout has been transferred to Kodagu but he was not allowed to take charge there too. Even DIG Roopa, who exposed irregularities in the Parappana Agrahara prisons too was shunted out. This shows, how the government officers are being harassed by the Siddaramaiah government.

When the State government set up the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) as an alternative to Lokayukta, BJP had opposed it in the Assembly. Ever since its inception, it was suspected of misusing powers to silence the opposition to government. And this has been proved in Yeddyurappa’s case, he alleged.

Speaking on the occasion, MP Shobha Karandlaje said several complaints have been registered with ACB alleging corruption against several ministers including the chief minister. But no action has been taken against them instead, BJP leaders are being targeted. If ACB officials have the guts they should issue notice to the Chief Minister and inquire, she suggested. The police officers should work as per the law and not be scared of the chief minister. But Siddaramaiah is threatening the officers. Soon his government will be brought down and BJP will form the government, she said.

Meanwhile, refuting the allegations made by BJP, the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said, he is not misusing the ACB. Instead the ACB is discharging its duties and the government has not interfered in it. Speaking after garlanding the statue of Devaraja Urs on his anniversary Siddaramaiah spoke to news persons and said whoever commits mistake will pay for it. "If Yeddyurappa has not committed mistake, why should he worry. It is not right on the part of BJP to blame the State government unnecessarily for the ACB probe," he said.
