Biman Banerjee said that Suvendu Adhikari did not hand over the resignation letter to him personally.

Banerjee also said, "I have to see if the resignation letter is genuine. I have not been informed that it is voluntary and genuine. Therefore, I did not accept the resignation letter. I have asked Suvendu Adhikari to meet me on Monday."

Suvendu Adhikari submitted his resignation as MLA at the Assembly secretariat on December 16. The Speaker was not present in the House at that time.
