Police said the incident occurred on Thursday evening. A team rushed to the hotel and shifted the couple to a community health centre. Doctors declared the woman, Priya, 20, dead after medical examination revealed strangulation marks on her neck. Kuldeep was referred to the Government Medical College at Saddarpur for treatment and is now out of danger.

Relationship And Motive

According to Ambedkar Nagar SP Prachi Singh, the accused and victim were neighbours and had been in a relationship for three years. Kuldeep, who worked in Mumbai at a shipping company, had recently returned home. Police said he regularly sent Priya Rs 10,000 each month for her personal expenses.

Investigators revealed that Kuldeep had begun suspecting Priya of speaking to another youth, leading to frequent arguments. On Thursday, he called her to the hotel, where they checked in around 5pm. An argument broke out over his suspicions, and in a fit of rage, he strangled her.
