7 dead, several injured in fatal collision between car and bus in Tamil Nadu
Seven people were killed on the spot when their SUV rammed into TNSTC bus on Tindivanam-Krishnagiri National Highway 77 at Anthanoor bus stop near Chengam town in Tiruvannamalai district.

Thiruvannamalai:Ā In a fatal car collision with the Tamil Nadu government bus, as many as seven people were killed on Monday (Oct 23) night. The accident occurred when an SUV in which they were travelling collided with a Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) bus on Tindivanam-Krishnagiri National Highway 77 at Anthanoor bus stop near Chengam town in Tiruvannamalai district.
Of the seven, five were Assam natives.Ā
The police suspect that Puneeth, who drove the vehicle, had attempted to overtake a vehicle when it collided with an ongoing bus from Bengaluru. The accident happened around 9.20 pm.Ā
K. Stephen Ora (44), V. Samun Orangi (26), B. Kismoth (30), and Pichesi Murmu (29) were all co-passengers in the SUV and sustained injuries. They have been hospitalised to the Government Medical College Hospital in Tiruvannamalai town, about 55 km from the scene of the accident.
The victims, who worked at a gum factoryĀ close to Hosur town, were reportedly returning from their visit to Puducherry when the SUV struck the bus. The impact severely damaged the SUV. Drivers notified the Mel Chengam police, who with the assistance of locals removed the bodies from the SUV and transported the injured people to the public hospital in Tiruvannamalai town.
