A 25-year-old techie from Kerala was found murdered in her office on January 29. K Rasila Raju, an employee of Infosys, Pune, was allegedly strangled with a computer wire and was hit hard on the face.

 

Now, Infosys has announced that they will pay a compensation of ₹1 crore to Raju’s family. In a statement released by the company, it was stated: “Towards ensuring financial stability for the family, Infosys takes into account the statutory payments to be made as per company policy. The company also considers ex-gratia payments based on the circumstances. Infosys also endeavours to make every effort at a suitable employment opportunity for the next of kin who qualify its recruitment criteria.”

Rasila had been working with Infosys for the past eight months and on that fateful Sunday afternoon she was working in office to complete a project. Security guard Bhaben Saikiya has been arrested in suspicion of murder.

 

Rasila’s parents had refused to take her body from the Sassoon General Hospital  and had demanded that Infosys accepted that their daughter’s death was the company’s responsibility. A report in the Midday states that O Raju, the girl’s father insisted that she was the victim of the company's callousness and claimed that the company had agreed to pay a compensation of ₹ 1 crore.
