State President Dilip Ghosh, BJP leader Sayantan Basu and Alipurduar MP John Barla will be taking part in the campaign. The BJP's Uttarkanya campaign aims to highlight multiple issues including corruption against the ruling Trinamool Congress, deprivation of tea workers in North Bengal.

A large police force has been deployed to obstruct the rallies. Iron and bamboo barricades have been set up at various places along the road. If required, tear gas and water cannons will be used to prevent any untoward incident.

Before the beginning of the campaign, police arrested Dilip Ghosh and Sayantan Basu. Dilip Ghosh was vocal against the state government for detaining them at the beginning of the campaign. He said, “The state government has allowed Bimal Gurung, accused in the sedition case, to hold a meeting with police security. However, BJP leaders are being detained because they are launching a campaign against corruption.”
