PM Modi’s witty reply to Milind Soman’s birthday wish viciously trolls Opposition
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s response to Milind Soman’s birthday wish was one of the top trending subjects on Twitter on Thursday owing to his witty reply.
FollowNew Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday thanked supermodel and actor Milind Soman for his birthday greetings with a tongue-in-cheek response that earned greater than a chuckle on social media.
On September 17, PM Modi turned 70 as politicians and celebrities wished him on social media. Milind’s wish was slightly different though.
In his post, Milind wished good health and a “good and proactive opposition” for PM Modi.
“Dear Prime Minister @narendramodi on your 70th birthday I wish you good health and a good and proactive opposition, to push you to do better for our great country,” Milind said in his post.
"Thank you for your birthday wishes and wishful thinking," came the reply laced with wit from the Prime Minister.
Needless to mention, PM Modi’s tweet has gone viral on Twitter with over 21,000 likes and thousands of retweets as netizens laughed out loud at his response.
The lack of strong opposition and the absence of any alternative to Prime Minister Modi has been one of the persistent narratives pushed by the BJP since the collapse of Congress in the 2014 national elections.
With the opposition party yet to bounce back convincingly from the debacle, the BJP has been able to get its long-standing agendas through parliament without too much friction.
Weak and often disunited opposition has enabled the government to take contentious measures like the new citizenship law and amendments to the Right to Information Act.
While his political opponents have continued to attack public forums, few have resonated with voters and the Prime Minister is widely regarded as the country’s most popular politician.
