Major terror plot foiled, 7kg explosive recovered by security forces in Jammu
The IED was allegedly planted by the terrorists to set off an explosion on the second anniversary of the 2019 Pulwama attack, officials said.
FollowA seven kilogram Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was recovered and detonated on Sunday from a bus stand in Jammu, officials said. A man, who belongs to the Pulwama district, has been arrested in connection with the recovery, they added.
The IED was allegedly planted by the terrorists to set off an explosion on the second anniversary of the 2019 Pulwama attack, officials said.
Also, in the last 7 days, two terrorists have been arrested by the various agencies including Anantnag police, which carried out two intel operations in which Hidayatullah Malik & Zahoor Ahmad Rather were arrested. After their arrest and now the recovery of 7kg explosive, it is thought that a major terrorist attack was being planned to coincide with the second Pulwama anniversary.
Two years ago on this day, Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed carried out the dastardly attack on a CRPF convoy of 70 vehicles in Pulwama, resulting in the death of 40 jawans.
The security forces and J&K police have increased the security in the valley and issued an alert. Major search operations have been launched to nab the accused who plotted the explosives in a highly-populated area.
