Lucknow metro built with over Rs 6,000 crore, only for it to break down in its very first day

Lucknow metro breaks down in its very first day

Citizens of Lucknow were excited to ride the newly finished metro in the city on Wednesday, September 6. The public transport system was inaugurated on September 5 by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Home Minister Rajnath Singh.

 

However, the dampner on the whole evented was the technical glitch that stopped the train on the very first day.

More than 500 passengers got stuck inside the second Metro train on Wednesday morning around 7.15 am. The train was stuck for over an hour at the Mawaiya's special span and neither the lights nor air-conditioning worked.

 

The rescue team took over 20 minutes to teach the spot to check the fault. Speaking to PTI, a Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC0 official said: “There was some fault in this traction and we are working on it. All trains are plying on the other parallel track.”

Passengers started panicking due to the rise in temperatures since the air conditioner was off. This included school children. Officials from LMRC arrived to remove them through an emergency exit.

The total cost of the project is Rs 6, 928 crores. Police lathi-charged few Samajwadi Party workers protesting at a metro station.

Although operations resumed and any danger averted, people took to twitter to troll Lucknow metro for the glitch.
