BRS leader KT Rama Rao accused Telangana's Congress govt of failing farmers by withholding Rs 30,000 crore under the Rythu Bharosa scheme, not implementing loan waivers, and prioritising public events over farmers' welfare.

KTR Accuses Govt of Denying Farmer Aid

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President KT Rama Rao on Tuesday accused the Congress government in Telangana of failing to fulfil its promises to farmers, alleging that it had withheld thousands of crores of rupees under the Rythu Bharosa scheme and failed to implement key agricultural commitments made before the Assembly elections.

In a post on X, KTR alleged that the government had denied farmers financial assistance and accused it of organising public events instead of addressing farmers' concerns. "Revanth, in your 30 months of disastrous governance, you have denied farmers nearly Rs 30,000 crore in Rythu Bharosa assistance. Yet, you have no shame in organising public meetings and political events in the name of farmers. Nearly 70 lakh farmers are expressing their anger over the fact that your government has defaulted on its promises more often than it has fulfilled them," KTR said.

'Failed to Release Assistance Four Times'

He alleged that the Congress government had repeatedly failed to release Rythu Bharosa assistance and criticised it for holding public meetings even while disbursing funds. "Not once or twice, but four times your government has failed to release Rythu Bharosa assistance. You promised Rs 15,000 per acre every year through your election guarantees, but instead of delivering more, you have taken away the benefits farmers were already receiving. You should first apologise to the farming community," he said.

Loan Waivers and Other Promises Unfulfilled

The BRS leader also accused the government of failing to implement its promise of a farm loan waiver of up to Rs 2 lakh and alleged that farmers continued to face shortages of urea and difficulties in crop procurement. He claimed that funds spent on the Chief Minister's visits and public meetings could have instead been utilised for extending financial support to farmers.

BRS Govt's Initiatives Highlighted

Highlighting the previous BRS government's initiatives, KTR said former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had transferred Rs 73,000 crore directly into farmers' bank accounts under the Rythu Bandhu scheme through 11 instalments. "K. Chandrashekar Rao released Rythu Bandhu assistance 11 times, transferring Rs 73,000 crore directly into farmers' bank accounts and laying the foundation for an agricultural revolution in Telangana. You have turned what was a decade of celebration for agriculture into a period of hardship. Telangana's farmers will never forgive this injustice," he said.

BRS Confident of Return to Power

On Sunday, KTR had also criticised the Congress government during the BRS General Body meeting in Vikarabad district, alleging that it had failed to honour its election promises, neglected farmers, stalled irrigation projects and mismanaged the state's finances. He expressed confidence that the BRS would return to power in the next Assembly elections under the leadership of K Chandrashekar Rao. (ANI)
