Kolkata Police confiscate piles of Chinese manjha after conducting raids in Chandannagar

The Calcutta high court has prohibited the use of Chinese manjha. Recently, a lot of Chinese manjha was seized after conducting raids in different places.

Kolkata: The Calcutta high court earlier ordered prohibiting the usage of Chinese manjha. Chinese manjha is a type of nylon thread coated with powdered glass used for flying kites. Police have also warned in different parts of the city to prohibit Chinese manjha.

A lot of Chinese manjha has been rescued by conducting raids in different places. According to reports, the police of Chandannagar Commissionerate have found out Chinese manjha factory in Chandannagar by conducting a secret operation. The initiative was taken by the police during the kite festival season before Bishwakarma Puja. Police have arrested factory owner Mithun Chakraborty who used to sell Chinese manjha.

According to police sources, the Enforcement Branch raided the factory and confiscated a large quantity of Chinese manjha. Inside the factory, were several piles of Chinese manjha. Police raided several other places of factory owner Mithun Chakraborty.

Police have also arrested a factory worker in this incident. The factory worker will remain in police custody for 14 days as ordered by the court. Many bird lovers have appreciated the initiative of the police. Many birds have died because their wings suffer cuts due to the Chinese manjha.
