Private buses in the state will go on strike on October 31. The joint committee will strike indefinitely on November 21. Bus owners should renew all permits, regardless of distance. Concession charges for students should be increased starting November 1.


3:00 PM: Kerala to receive heavy rainfall today; yellow alert in 5 districts

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that there is a possibility of heavy rain in isolated places in the state today. A yellow alert has been declared in five districts of the state including Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, and Idukki.

12:05 PM: Kasaragod District Session Court grants bail to K Surendran in Manjeshwaram election corruption case

The Kasaragod District Session Court has granted bail to all the accused including BJP state president K. Surendran, in the Manjeshwaram election corruption case. Earlier, the court directed the defendants including K. Surendran to appear while considering the release petition filed requesting to be excluded from the case. This is the first time Surendran is appearing in court for this case.


11:25 AM: Fire breaks out at home appliances company in Palakkad

A fire broke out in a home appliance company located in Mannarkkad in Palakkad district today(Oct 25). The incident took place at Mullas Home Appliances in Chanthapadi, Mannarkkad. The fire began on the first floor of the two-story building. 

The incident happened around 7:30 am when workers who were loading products near Mullas Home Appliances noticed flames and smoke coming from inside the shop.


10.30 AM: Woman loses hearing in lightning strike in Thrissur

A 36-year-old woman, Aiswarya, a native of Thrissur's Kalparambu lost her hearing due to lightning. The lightning struck her while she was breastfeeding her baby, leaning against the wall of the house. Aiswarya lost hearing in her left ear, suffered a burn injury, and her hair was also burnt. She sought treatment at a cooperative hospital. The switchboards and bulbs in the house exploded with a loud bang. Nearby houses were also damaged by lightning


10.00 AM: Biker killed after car driven by Customs hit him in Kochi

A biker was killed after being hit by a car driven by a Customs official. The accident happened at 2 am at Willington Island, Kochi. The deceased is Vinay Mathew, a native of Pathanamthitta. Pankaj Kumar Verma and Athareeksh Daga, who were in the car, are in police custody.

A nine-year-old boy identified as John Paul was found dead in a waste pit of a plastic company near his house in Kochi. The boy went missing yesterday afternoon after going out with his bicycle. The India  Meteorological Department has warned that there is a possibility of heavy rain in isolated places in the state today. There is no special rain warning in any district. Similar to the previous days, there is a possibility of rain with thunder in the afternoon. The IMD has informed that there is a possibility of high waves and there will be no ban on fishing on the Kerala coast.


8.18 AM: Man makes hoax bomb threat at Cochin International Airport; arrested

A man was arrested at Cochin International Airport after threatening to have a bomb in his luggage. Rakesh Ravindran, a native of Alappuzha, who was going to Dubai on a Spice Jet flight last night, was arrested. During the baggage check, he alarmed that there was a bomb in the bag. The weight of Rakesh's luggage was more than allowed. Following this, the staff asked to reduce the luggage. With this, the young man threatened to have a bomb in his luggage. Then the bomb squad arrived and conducted an investigation. After checking and other procedures, the flight took off more than an hour late. The airport authorities handed over Rakesh to the Nedumbassery police.
