Kottayam: A 11-year-old girl was strangled to death by her mother on Wednesday (November 20) in Kerala's Kottayam. The deceased was identified as Soorya Raman.

The body of the minor was found tied with a bath towel in the house. The murder came to light on Wednesday evening. Soorya had to skip her school as her mother was unwell on the same day. When her brother Swaroop returned from school, the mother refused to open the doors for him.

Swaroop informed nearby people and opened the doors of the house. Soorya was rushed to the hospital, but was declared dead. Soorya's body is kept at the mortuary in Kottayam medical college.
Meanwhile, the mother of the victim has confessed to killing her. Kerala Police have taken her into custody. According to sources, the woman is not mentally stable.
