Pilgrims for Haj 2022 would be chosen based only on their complete vaccination status against Covid-19, stated Union Minister for Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Friday. He said that candidates should be vaccinated with two doses of a Covid-19 vaccine and that additional rules would be determined by the governments of India and Saudi Arabia.

During a Haj review meeting in New Delhi, the union minister revealed that all pilgrims would receive digital health cards, a 'E-Masiha' health facility, and an e-luggage pre-tagging service. All pilgrims will be supplied with all relevant information on lodging and transportation in Mecca and Medina. The formal announcement for Haj 2022 will be made in the first week of November, and only then will the online application process begin.

According to Naqvi, the entire Haj 2022 procedure in India would be entirely digital. It should be remembered that India, behind Indonesia, sends the second-highest number of Haj pilgrims. As per the Minority Affairs Minister, the entire Haj 2022 travel procedure is being done with major and significant revisions in light of the epidemic and its consequences. These include housing, pilgrims' length of stay, transportation, health care, and other services in both India and Saudi Arabia.

According to Naqvi, almost 3,000 women have filed for Haj 2020 and 2021 under the "Mehram" (male companion) category. If they choose to do Haj 2022, their applications will also be considered for Haj 2022. Other women can apply for Haj 2022 under the "Mehram" category as well. He said that all ladies who do not fall under the category of "Mehram" would be excluded from the lottery method.
