Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday (October 24) embarked on a visit to Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh, where he inspected forward areas and participated in Shastra Puja as part of the Vijayadashami celebrations. Upon his arrival in Tawang, the Defence Minister engaged with the security personnel deployed in the Tawang sector, demonstrating his commitment to the forces.
He also paid homage to the fallen heroes at the Tawang War Memorial by laying a wreath. During his visit, Rajnath Singh received a comprehensive briefing from Army personnel on the defense establishments along the India-China border at Bum La in Arunachal Pradesh.
Furthermore, he actively participated in the traditional Shastra Puja, an integral ritual for invoking the blessings of the divine for the security personnel.
On Monday, Rajnath Singh took to 'X' (formerly known as Twitter) to announce his trip and said, "Today, 23rd October, I shall be reaching Tezpur on a 2-day visit to Assam & Arunachal Pradesh. During my visit, I will interact with Armed Forces personnel deployed in the region and also visit forward areas." He also expressed his anticipation of celebrating Dussehra with the dedicated soldiers stationed in Tawang.
In addition to his Tawang visit, the Defence Minister partook in the 'Bada Khana' and engaged in interactions with personnel at the Tezpur military station.
It should be noted that tensions between Indian and Chinese troops flared up on December 9 last year, resulting in a clash at the Line of Actual Control in the Yangtse area of the Tawang sector in Arunachal Pradesh.
