Dayashankar's family files an FIR against Mayawati

The family of Dayashankar Singh, the expelled BJP politician, filed an FIR against Mayawati and her party members for allegedly abusing them. Dayashakar’s wife said Mayawati and her supporters are ‘inflicting mental trauma’ on her 12-year-old daughter.

"If the same words can hurt Mayawatiji, why will they not hurt us? Particularly my daughter... She has gone through acute mental trauma after she heard the nasty words inflicted on her," Singh’s wife told The Times of India. The BSP chief has been accused of criminal conspiracy, intimidation and promoting enmity.

On Thursday, Dayashankar Singh was removed from all party posts after he made an offensive remark about Mayawati, spurring criticism from all the parties. He said “If someone comes with ₹2 crore, she gives him a ticket. If somebody gives her ₹3 crore, she cancels the tickets of the previous candidate and chooses him. Today her character is worse than that of a prostitute."

Soon after his remark triggered outrage in political circles, he apologised and said, "I can't even think about Mayawatiji in such a way. She has reached here after a lot of struggle." However, the party refused to accept his apology, and UP BJP party chief Keshav Maurya announced his expulsion.

Mayawati was however, not happy with the party’s decision and stressed that she wants Dayashankar behind bars. BSP held massive protests in Lucknow which were called off after Mayawati was assured of his arrest within 36 hours. Dayashankar is still on the run as the state police continues to hunt him down.
