Coronavirus: West Bengal cinema halls to reopen from October 1
The state government has put a cap of 50 persons at a time while allowing the reopening of live shows of music, dance and magic among others next month.
Kolkata: Chief minister Mamata Banerjee said that cinema halls are set to reopen from October 1 in West Bengal. She added that the other shows; music, dance and magic will be permitted in the state as well from next month.
Taking to her official Twitter handle, the West Bengal CM said, "To return to normalcy, Jatras, Plays, OATs, Cinemas & all musical, dance, recital & magic shows shall be allowed to function with 50 participants or less from 1 Oct, subject to adherence to physical distancing norms, wearing of masks & compliance to precautionary protocols."
Mamata Banerjee said that a cap of maximum 50 persons would be put in place for these shows/events.
India's COVID-19 tally sprinted past 59.9 lakh with 88,600 fresh cases in a span of 24 hours, while over 49 lakh people have recovered from the disease so far, according to the Union Health Ministry's data updated on Sunday.
The total number of coronavirus cases rose to 59.9 lakh with 88,600 infections being reported in a day, while the death toll reached 94,503, the data updated at 8am showed. Over 1,000 deaths were also recorded in the last 24 hours.
