CBI raids 10 places in Kolkata in connection with cattle smuggling case

The sleuths of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) raided 10 places in Kolkata in connection with a cattle smuggling case. CBI has 5 more teams in Kolkata.

The Central Intelligence Agency conducted searches at 10 places including Durgapur, Raniganj, and Asansol. The CBI is conducting a simultaneous search at the houses of Binoy Mishra and Anup Maji’s relatives. Earlier, the ED had conducted simultaneous searches in 12 places, including Kolkata, since the morning of January 11.

According to CBI sources, businessman Ganesh Bagaria and Anup Majhi opened a market in the company by using their black money. Many influential people were involved with the company.

On the other hand, on January 11, ED officers searched the house of a chartered accountant in Bangur. Besides, ED officials raided the flat of a businessman named Biswajit Malakar who stays in Garia, South Kolkata. The businessman’s father is an ECL worker. It is alleged that the businessman and his father were directly involved in the coal smuggling case.

Besides, ED officials are also conducting search operation in North 24 Parganas and Hooghly. The CBI has five more teams in Kolkata to conduct raids on Wednesday (January 13).
