Two Pakistani pilots have reportedly been captured alive by Indian forces in Rajasthan's Jaisalmer and Akhnoor, according to media reports.
This development comes amid heightened tensions along the India-Pakistan border following recent military escalations under Operation Sindoor.
More details are awaited. There is no official statement from the Indian Armed Forces or the Ministry of Defence at this time.
Escalation will get a firm counter, says S Jaishankar
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar made it clear to the US that India will firmly counter any attempts at escalation. The comments were made during a phone conversation with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in the midst of Pakistan's aggressive border state actions. India's planned and methodical reaction to cross-border terrorism was emphasized by Jaishankar. He also made it very evident that any efforts at escalation would be met with a harsh response.
Rubio contacted Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and S Jaishankar and demanded a quick de-escalation of tensions between India and Pakistan. The calls are made while Pakistan targets various Indian towns along its border states, including Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, and Rajasthan, with drones and missiles.
Tensions escalate between India and Pakistan
The calls came after tensions between India and Pakistan reached a breaking point, with Pakistan launching a full-scale attack on Indian towns on Thursday night using a volley of drones and missiles. Heavy shelling occurred in RS Pura, Arnia, Samba, Hiranagar, and other border areas along the Line of Control (LoC) and international boundary.
The Air Defence Units intercepted all eight of the missiles that were fired against RS Pura, Arnia, Samba, and Hiranagar. No injuries have been recorded thus far, as the Indian air defense system shot down every missile and drone.
