BJP worker found dead in Bengal; party blames TMC

A BJP worker was found dead near his house in West Bengal's East Burdwan district on Sunday (December 13) evening. The incident caused a stir in political arena.

A BJP worker was found dead near his house in West Bengal's East Burdwan district on Sunday (December 13) evening. The incident caused a stir in the area. 

BJP workers protested about the incident and alleged that the party worker was killed by members of the Trinamool Congress.

The name of the deceased is Sukhdeb Pramanik. His body was recovered from a pond in Purbasthali area.

Although police did not confirm Sukhdeb Pramanik''s political affiliation, his family and the BJP claimed that he was associated with the party.

Sukhdeb’s family member said, “He was an active youth worker of the BJP. Sukhdeb went missing after participating in a BJP rally two days ago.”

The BJP has announced that it will stage a protest in Purbasthali area on Monday (December 14), demanding immediate punishment of the assailant.

Local TMC leaders, however, said that the BJP is trying to politicise every unnatural death before the assembly polls. 

TMC leader and state minister Firhad Hakim said, "We don’t believe in the politics of murder."
