Bengaluru: With the top court handing over the probe of the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput to the Central Bureau of Investigation, a million prayers have been upheld.

Vikas Singh, lawyer of Sushant Singh Rajput's father said, “It is a very important day for #SushantSinghRajput's family and his fans all over the world. Supreme Court accepted all our points, it also held that what Maharashtra Police was doing was in a limited scope.”

For more than 2 months since his controversial death, the chorus for the top investigating agency to take over the investigation had grown strongly, with the Maharashtra government seemingly playing truant, effectively assisted by the Mumbai cops.

Bihar DGP Gupteshwar Pandey, on learning of the issue, said, “I am very happy. The Supreme Court's order has strengthened the trust people have in the Court and has assured the nation that justice will be delivered in the #SushantSinghRajput's death case.”

It is interesting to note that even after months of his death, the Mumbai cops have not filed an FIR, trying to settle the issue with the charade of inquest. You many also be well aware of the fact as to how a top Bihar police officer who went to Mumbai for the investigation was quarantined for 14 days. There were a lot of doubts that came up as days went by.

And as an FIR was filed in Patna, there was a big talk that the Bihar police have no jurisdiction over the matter.

One of the accused in the case, Rhea Chakraborty, who initially urged Union home minister Amit Shah for a CBI enquiry later changed her tack and sought the top court to transfer the entire case to Mumbai. But the top court did not countenance her view.

The campaign to ask CBI to probe the issue gained global traction as NRIs too decided to make their voices heard.

And as the chorus began to grow, the Maharashtra government began to sense the inevitable.

NCP chief Sharad Pawar even took a jibe at senior journalist Arnab Goswami and wanted to silence him. This was even revealed in the Shiva Sena mouthpiece Saamna.

Sanjay Raut, another Shiva Sena leader allegedly threatened Sushant Singh Rajput’s family to keep quiet.

But as easily graspable, the matter also created fissures in the Maharashtra government. Pawar’s grandnephew Parth openly batted for a CBI probe, only to be scoffed and derided by Pawar himself. The veteran leader even called him “immature”.

However, Parth now stands vindicated as the CBI will take over the issue.

Well, even a superficial glance into how Rhea Chakraborty had behaved really makes us wonder.

Just a day before the top court decreed the CBI to take over the issue, she revealed that Rajput’s sister groped her in an inebriated state.

All these revelations have been perceived to be tactics to besmirch and sully the entire situation.

Now that the top court has green-lit the CBI to look into the issue, the fears that are manifesting themselves are the destruction of evidence.

Well, let’s hope the CBI tightens the screws and the truth ultimately triumphs.
