Chennai: 57-year-old DMK MLA and former Tamil Nadu Fisheries minister KPP Samy passed away on Thursday morning.
The DMK leader breathed his last after enduring a prolonged illness.
The Thiruvottiyur constituency elected KPP Samy to power twice; in 2006 and in 2016. He had served as the fisheries minister in the 2006-2011 DMK government.
Samy’s death makes it the second MLA that the DMK has lost recently. In June of last year, the party lost an MLA in the form of K Radhamani, who represented Vikravandi constituency.
