Coronavirus: India’s active cases decline after 2-day rise; recovery rate at 97.36%
As many as 35,342 new Covid-19 cases and 38,740 recoveries were reported in the last 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry informed on Friday.

India reported 35,342 new Covid-19 cases and 483 deaths in the last 24 hours, ending at 8 am on Friday.

With this, the country’s overall caseload rose to around 3.12 crore (3,12,93,062), while its death toll has increased to over 4.19 lakh (4,19,470).
<p>The number of active cases remained below five lakh for the eleventh consecutive day. </p>
The recoveries in cases are 38,740 making the total recoveries jump to 3,04,68,079.
<p>West Bengal now has 24,045 active cases. In the past 24 hours, the state tested 44,351 samples, taking the total number of such clinical examinations to 60,47,279.</p>
After a two-day rise, active cases started to decline on Thursday. According to the Union Health Ministry’s latest update, the country has a total of about 4.05 lakh active cases at present.
<p>Mumbai reported 1,132 new cases and 50 deaths during the day. The number of Covid-19 cases in the city thus rose to 1,26,356 and death toll to 6,943. The number of active cases in Mumbai is 19,047.<br /> </p>
The active caseload is 4.05,513 which constitutes 1.30% of total cases. The weekly positive rate remains below 5 % currently at 2.14%. The country has reported over 3.12 crore cases and over 4.19 lakh fatalities so far, as per health ministry data.
<p>With the new cases, the Coronavirus tally in the country has reached 1,10,46,914 including 1,51,708 active cases and 1,07,38,501 discharges. The death toll has mounted to 1,56,705 with the loss of 138 lives.</p>
A total of 450,911,712 samples have been tested for the Covid-19 disease till now, of which 1718,439 were tested in the last 24 hours, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said on Thursday.
Over 54 lakh vaccine doses were administered in the last 24 hours. The total number of doses administered in the country has exceeded 42.34 crores so far, the Health Ministry said.
