Coronavirus: India reports 51,667 new COVID cases, recoveries outnumber daily cases
With the daily recoveries continuing to outnumber the daily cases for the 43rd day, 2,91,28,267 patients have also recovered so far.
India recorded 51,667 new Covid-19 cases and 1,329 deaths in the last 24 hours taking the country's total caseload to 3,01,34,445, according to data released by the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry on Friday.
Further, the fatalities saw a slight increase for the second day in a row with 1,329 more people succumbing to the disease. The death toll due to Covid-19 has climbed to 3,93,310.
On the other hand, the recoveries continue to surpass fresh infections as 64,527 more people were discharged between Thursday and Friday. This took the total number of discharges to 2,91,28,267.
The active cases have now come down below 8 lakh and the country has 6,12,868 active cases presently.
At 2.98%, the daily positivity rate in the country remained below 5% for the 18 days on the trot. The recovery rate has increased to 96.66%.
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research, 39,95,68,448 samples have been tested up to June 24 for Covid-19. Of these 17,35,781 samples were tested on Thursday.
The Health Ministry said that a total of 30,79,48,744 people have been vaccinated so far in the country, including 60,73,912 who were administered vaccines in the last 24 hours.
