Coronavirus: India reports 30,773 new COVID-19 cases, recovery rate at 97.68%

India has reported 30,773 new Covid-19 cases, 13.7% lower than yesterday, according to the Union Health Ministry data.

India on Sunday registered 30,773 new Covid-19 cases and 309 fresh fatalities, according to the Union Health Ministry data. With this India's total tally of Covid-19 cases rose to 3,34,48,163 and the death toll climbed to 4,44,838.

The country's active cases declined to 3,32,158 with a reduction of 8,481 cases in a span of 24 hours, the Ministry said. The active cases comprise 0.99% of the total infections.

Meanwhile, 38,945 more people were discharged in the last 24 hours, pushing the total recoveries in the country to 32,671,167. The national Covid-19 recovery rate was recorded at 97.68%, the Ministry said.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) data, as many as 15,59,895 tests were conducted on Saturday.  So far, a total of 55,23,40,168 samples have been tested for Covid-19.

The cumulative total of 80.43 crore vaccine doses have been administered so far under the nationwide vaccination drive, of which 85,42,732 were administered in the last 24 hours.
