Coronavirus: India registers slight increase daily COVID-19 cases

India on Wednesday reported 15,283 Covid cases — a slight increase from Tuesday, according to Union Health Ministry data.

India reported 15,823 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, pushing the total Covid-19 caseload in India to 3,40,01,743. With 226 fatalities, the death toll mounted to 4,51,189, according to Union Health Ministry data on Wednesday.

The active caseload at present is 2,07,653, lowest in 214 days and accounts for just 0.61% of the total cases, the ministry said. 

Meanwhile, a total of 22,844 patients recuperated from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, which took the total recoveries to 3,33,42,901 across the country. India's recovery rate currently stands at 98.06%. 

Over 96.43 crore Covid-19 vaccine doses have been administered so far in the country, out of which 50,63,845 jabs were given in the last 24 hours under the nationwide vaccination drive.
