Coronavirus: India logs slight spike in daily infections; active cases over 4 lakh
India has reported 44,643 new Covid-19 cases and 464 deaths in the last 24 hours, Union ministry data shows.
India reported 44,643 fresh Covid-19 cases and 464 deaths on Friday, according to the 8 am data of the Union Health Ministry.
Kerala continues to log in 50% or more of the total cases in India, even as most other states show a steady decline in infections. The state reported more than 22,000 new cases for the third day this week, while Tamil Nadu and Himachal Pradesh continued to show signs of a spike in infections.
With fresh cases, India's cumulative Covid-19 caseload has reached 4,14,159 and deaths took total fatalities to 426,754.
The nation has seen 3,10,15,844 total recoveries so far, with 41,096 patients having recovered in the last 24 hours. The current recovery rate in India stands at 97.36%.
Meanwhile 47,65,33,650 samples have been tested up to August 5 for Covid-19. Of these, 16,40,287 samples were tested on Thursday, according to Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) data.
