Coronavirus: India logs 25,072 new infections, lowest in 160 days; recovery rate at highest

India reported 25,072 new coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, the lowest in 160 days, the Union Health Ministry said.

India on Monday reported 25,702 new Covid-19 cases, the lowest in 160 days and 389 fatalities, according to the Union Health Ministry data. The new infections took the total tally to, while the death toll rose to 4,34,756.

The country saw 44,157 recoveries reported in the last 24 hours, which took the total recoveries to 3,16,80,626 across the country. While the country’s recovery rate increased to 97.63%.

Meanwhile, active caseload in the country further declined to 3.33 lakh, lowest in 155 days. Active cases constitute 1.03% of the total infections, the ministry data showed.

According to Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) data, 50,75,51,399 samples were tested up to August 22 for Covid-19. Of these, 12,95,160 samples were tested on Sunday.

A total of 58,14,89,377 Covid-19 vaccine doses have been administered so far, while 52,23,612 doses were administered in the last 24 hours.
