Coronavirus: India daily figures reach new high with 3.79 lakh new cases, 3,645 deaths
On Wednesday, 14 states and UTs recorded their highest single-day case count with India reporting nearly 3.8 lakh cases in the last 24 hours and over 3,000 deaths.
India's daily Covid figures hit a new high today with 3,79,257 fresh infections taking India’s tally to 1,83,76,524, as per Union Health Ministry.
The death toll increased to 2,04,832 with a record 3,645 daily new fatalities, the data updated at 8 am showed.
Registering a steady increase, the active cases have increased to 30,84,814 comprising 16.79% of the total infections, while the national Covid-19 recovery rate has further dropped to 82.10%.
The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 1,50, 86,878. The case fatality rate has further dropped to 1.11%, the data stated.
This is the highest ever single-day rise in cases reported by any country so far, and also the eighth consecutive day when India has recorded more than 3 lakh cases.
According to the ICMR, 28,44,71,979 samples have been tested up to April 28 with 17,68,190 samples being tested on Wednesday.
