Coronavirus: India’s active cases decline to 1.59 lakh, over 3.36 crore recoveries

India's Covid-19 active cases have also declined to 1,59,272 -- the lowest in 247 days. And the total recoveries have jumped to 3,36,55,842.

India saw a decline in Covid-19 cases and daily deaths due to the infection on Sunday, with 12,830 new cases and 446 deaths in the last 24 hours, according to the Union Health Ministry's data. India's cumulative caseload climbed to 3,42,73,300, while the death toll stands at 4,58,186.

The active cases have also declined to 1,59,272--the lowest in 247 days with a reduction of 1,155 cases in the last 24 hours. The active cases account for less than 1 per cent of total cases and is currently at 0.46 per cent which is the lowest since March 2020.

A total of 14,667 fresh recoveries in the last 24 hours took the overall recoveries in the country to 3,36,55,842. The recovery rate at around 98.20 per cent which is the highest since March 2020.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) data, 60,83,19,915 samples have been tested so far up to October 30 for Covid-19. Of these 11,35,142 samples were tested on Saturday.

India has administered a total 1,06,14,40,335 Covid-19 vaccine doses so far under the nationwide Covid-19 vaccination drive. Yesterday Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the country is preparing more than 5 billion COVID-19 vaccine doses for the world next year.
