BBC Asian Network's radio show 'Big Debate' received a shellacking on social media after a speaker abused Prime Minister Narendra Modi's mother.

The abusive remarks came during a discussion hosted by Pria Rai on racism against Sikhs and Indian in the United Kingdom on March 1.

Deviating from the subject, one of the callers raised the issue of the farmers' protests in the outskirts of Delhi and went on to abuse Prime Minister Modi's mother.

Even though the host cut off the caller identified as Simon, a number of listeners took to social media condemning the remarks.

Some people also claimed a violation of UK broadcasting rules and sought action against the programme.
