A million Indians got Covid vaccine dose in just 6 days
Numbers outline India's successful test-track-treat-technology strategy.
India has administered a million Covid-19 vaccine doses in just six days, the Union Health Ministry informed on Sunday.
The vaccination count is higher than countries like the United States and the United Kingdom. while the UK took 18 days to reach the million mark, the US took 10 days to do the same.
Officially, close to 16 lakh (15,82,201) healthcare have received their first dose of anti-coronavirus vaccines in 27,920 sessions conducted so far. In the last 24 hours alone, close to 2 lakh people were vaccinated across 3,512 sessions.
The most number of vaccinations have been done in Karnataka where 1,88,971 health workers have been administered their first shot.
The health ministry also underlined India's successful test-track-treat-technology strategy.
The country continues to report a steady downwards trajectory in the daily new cases and consequential decline in active cases.
India's active cases today stand at 1,84,408 which comprises of1.73 per cent of the total cases. With 15,948 recovered cases in a span of 24 hours, a net decline of 1,254 cases has been recorded in the total active caseload during the same period.
The health ministry reported that five States -- Kerala, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal -- accounted for 75 per cent of the total active cases in the country.
Kerala reported the maximum daily new cases numbering 6,960 in the last 24 hours. Maharashtra has recorded 2,697 new cases while Karnataka registered 902 new cases in the last 24 hours.
