Congress government in Puducherry in minority after another MLA quits

With this, the strength of the Congress party in the 30-member House has come down to 10.<br />&nbsp;</p><p>With this, the number of MLAs who have resigned from the Congress so far now stands at four.</p>

The Congress government in Puducherry was reduced to a minority after yet another MLA resigned from the party.

Kamaraj Nagar MLA John Kumar tendered his resignation today. With this, the strength of the Congress party in the 30-member House has come down to 10.

With this, the number of MLAs who have resigned from the Congress so far now stands at four.

<p><em>(Puducherry assembly before the exit of 5 Congress MLAs)</em><br />&nbsp;</p><p>The setback comes a day before Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to visit the Union Territory.<br />&nbsp;</p><p>Just yesterday, senior leader and Yanam MLA Malladi Krishna Rao had resigned weeks after former PWD Minister A Namassivayam and ETheeppainjan on January 25.&nbsp;<br />&nbsp;</p><p>Another Congress leader N Dhanavelu was disqualified in July last year for alleged anti-party activities.&nbsp;<br />&nbsp;</p><p>Sources say Chief Minister Narayanasamy will have no option but to resign despite the support of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam's three MLAs.</p>
