Due to a worldwide processor shortage, Apple Inc is expected to reduce the manufacturing of the iPhone 13 by up to 10 million devices, Bloomberg News said on Tuesday, citing individuals familiar with the situation. Bloomberg said that the firm intended to build 90 million copies of the new iPhone models by the end of this year.

Nonetheless, Apple informed its vendors that the number of devices would be reduced because the tech giant's semiconductor suppliers, notably Broadcom Inc and Texas Instruments, are having difficulty delivering components.

Apple shares plummeted 1.2 per cent in after-hours trade, while Texas Instruments and Broadcom lost nearly 1%. Apple has refused to comment. In July, Apple forecasted slower revenue growth and stated that the chip scarcity, which had begun to erode its capacity to sell Macs and iPads, will impair iPhone manufacturing. Furthermore, Texas Instruments issued a dismal revenue forecast for the month, suggesting chip supply issues for the remainder of the year.

The chip crisis, which includes a scarcity of components and raw materials such as substrates, has put enormous strain on sectors ranging from autos to electronics, prompting several manufacturers to halt production temporarily. Analysts anticipated that Apple's consumers would have to wait longer for the new iPhone 13, owing to supply chain bottlenecks and high demand, which would result in one of the phone's most extended wait periods in prior years.

In other news, Apple now allows users to review and evaluate its applications, including Mail, Music, News, Stocks, and Calculator. Initially spotted by 9to5Mac, the new modifications occurred after iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 for iPhones and iPads, respectively. However, the app store listings continue to lack the number of downloads displayed by the Google Play app store for quite some time. Several Apple's native applications now have low ratings; nevertheless, it is too early to obtain a clearer picture.
