Sushmita has not yet given up on the seat, despite not featuring in many movies. Clearly, she has set the example of a woman who never quits. As she is about to celebrate her birthday, we take a look at the time when she ruled out hearts.

Journey of becoming Ms Universe

Sushmita was born in Hyderabad and started her schooling in Hindi medium. She started learning English when she was 16. And, at the age of 18, she won the title of Ms Universe at Manila. She is the first Indian woman who won that crown. They didn't have many resources to buy her a designer dress. Thus her finale dress was made by a local tailor in Delhi.

Becoming an actor

She debuted in the film Dastaak. From then she has worked in a lot of movies, though not many. She also received Filmfare award for Biwi No. 1. She even debuted in her regional language, Bengali, Nirbaak. And, that was her last film.

Becoming a mother

She is a mother of two young and beautiful daughters. She hasn't tied her knots yet but stays with her beau, Rohan Shawl, a model.

Sushmita has a humanitarian mind and leads the foundation I AM, which helps with the welfare of children. She has even stood and fought for the betterment of the girl children.

She doesn't follow anybody on social media as she believes she is there for a cause.
