The districts likely to receive heavy rain are Nilgiris, Erode, Salem, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur, Thanjavur, Pudukkottai and Tiruchirappalli.

Thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds reaching 40-50 kmph are also possible in these areas. Similar weather conditions may prevail in Karaikal.

Rain to Continue on October 1 and 2

The rain activity is likely to continue over the next two days. On October 1, isolated areas of Nilgiris and Coimbatore may receive heavy rain, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds of 40-50 kmph.

Several other parts of Tamil Nadu could receive light to moderate rain. Puducherry and Karaikal may also experience similar weather conditions.

On October 2, isolated areas of the Western Ghats districts and southern Tamil Nadu may receive light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds.

Other parts of Tamil Nadu could also witness light rain at a few places, while Puducherry and Karaikal may see thunderstorms.
